Oshkosh native Sonja Funnell has found a niche in the local art scene of her hometown and its surrounding cities. In addition to being a Bachelor of Fine Arts student at UW Oshkosh, Funnell is a published illustrator with the bulk of her published material falling into the genre of children's books.

Ryan Flannery and the Night Owls is one of the many talented bands playing at WISCO! the music event on March 9 in the Reeve Memorial Union Ballroom. They are an indie/rock jazz trio from Wausau, Wisconsin. All three of the band members have been involved in music their whole lives.

Milwaukee based Hip-hop artist C-Piepz is set to headline WISCO! the music fest March 9 in the Titan Underground. C-Piepz creates his musical style by blending his Hawaiian roots into infectious and upbeat hip-hop with pop sensibilities. Signed to independent Milwaukee record label, Good Fight Records, C-Piepz is blazing his way to stardom "His music sounds like what you would hear on the radio," Reeve Union Board Music and Variety Chairwoman Katy Hamm said.

Add author to Austin Frederick's résumé. Frederick, the vice president of the history club on campus and just barely 21 years old, recently published a book chronicling a full history of the small town of Markesan, Wisc. Growing up in Markesan, "Images of America: Markesan" was a familiar adventure to Frederick, allowing him to see where the roots of his hometown went.

The Oshkosh Public Museum is featuring an exhibit called, "Bling!" 100 Years of Over-Embellished Fashions, designed around historical women and fads in fashion. The second floor of the second oldest public museum in Wisconsin is overflowing with dresses, shoes, purses and jewelry worn by some of the most important women across the state like the Clarks of Kimberly-Clark Corp.

The UW Oshkosh music department will present Imani Winds as part of its Chamber Arts Series tonight in the Arts and Communication Center's Music Hall at 7:30 p.m. Imani Winds is a Grammy nominated wind quintet that has toured across the country, playing venues like the Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Disney Hall and Carnegie Hall.

Titan TV is premiering a new show "Infinity Unlimited" this semester as its first ever web series. The writer and director of the series, Callie Mills, describes the show as relatable to a college audience. "It's a comedy about two people who lose their jobs and decide to make a production company, even though they have no idea how," Mills said.

When one thinks about the life of college professors most people picture them teaching courses, wearing uncomfortable tweed suits or buried under piles of paperwork in offices. Few can see professors scuba diving off the coast of Australia, going on tour or teaching pole fitness.

The state of Wisconsin isn't exactly synonymous with the silver screen, but one Wisconsin based film office hopes to amend that fact. Responsible for the state's features in "Public Enemies," where Johnny Depp menacingly traipsed the streets of Oshkosh as a 1930s gangster, as well as the footage of the Milwaukee Art Museum in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," the nonprofit film office, Film Wisconsin, facilitates the development of films in Wisconsin.

WRST, Oshkosh's campus radio station, welcomes personal life philosophies from UW Oshkosh community members to its schedule. Oshkosh Alumni Relations sponsors the project inspired by the "This I Believe" international project. Natalie Johnson, alumni communications manager, and Christine Gantner, director of alumni relations, said the project is meant to connect the community.

UWO Facebook meme page erupts with more than 2,000 likes in 12 days
More than 2,000 people poke fun at daily life at UW Oshkosh on the "UW-Oshkosh Memes" Facebook page, which was created on Feb. 6. The page allows students to post memes relating specifically to campus. According to knowyourmeme.com, a meme is "a piece of content or an idea that's passed from person to person, changing and evolving along the way.
