The  men’s soccer team played to a 2-2 tie against UW-Platteville in double overtime on Nov. 1, at Pioneer Stadium in Platteville.

The tie was the Titans’ second of the year as they moved their record to 13-3-2.

Titans’ senior midfielder Will Howell tied the game off a penalty kick in the 65th minute.

Even after Pioneer goalie Kris Bosshart guessed the direction on his attempt, Howell still managed to get the goal, which was a boost to team morale.

“It was definitely a good feeling to get it in the back of the net,” Howell said. “That definitely reassured our team’s confidence.”

Howell also said the team has a lot of character in coming back to tie the game twice.

“Our team has a lot of depth and quality and confidence that we’re going to be able to play strong the full 90 minutes, whether we go up or down right off the bat,” he said.

Titans’ sophomore midfielder Robby Giljohann tallied the final goal of the match off an assist from Howell in the 73rd minute.

Coach Toby Bares said his team showed resiliency as the game went on.

“Once they scored I thought we played with better urgency and a good sense of purpose,” Bares said. “I was pleased that we came back twice.”

Bares said the team is geared up and focused on its last game of the season.

“Our guys are going to be looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to send their seniors off in a positive fashion,” he said.

The Titans will battle UW-Whitewater in their last game of the season at 7 p.m. on Saturday, on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
