The women Titan throwers dominated like never before at Titan Stadium this past Saturday. Receiving first through eighth place in the hammer throw, first through fourth place in the shot put and first place in the discus throw, the throwers greatly contributed to the Titans' win of 216 points.

Leading the throwers was junior Holly Ozanich, who placed first in the hammer throw with a throw of 191-3 and also took first place in the shot put with a throw of 44-6 3/4.

"It felt rewarding to win the hammer and the shot put." Ozanich said, "It was great competition between me and my teammates to see who would win hammer, and I know that I could not have thrown as far if it was not for my teammates pushing me every throw at practice and at meets."

Ellie Sitek won the discus throw with a throw of 158-5.

"It is awesome to have so many of my teammates perform well and place high at meets," Ozanich said.

Along with the throwers' performance,  junior sprinter Camille Davis broke the school and stadium record and automatically qualified for nationals in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.98 seconds. She also received first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.33. This time also automatically qualified Davis for nationals, but because of the wind speed at the time of the race, the time is not valid for Nationals.

"I felt I ran pretty well," Davis said. "I was very excited about both of my times and I hope to only improve them."

Other teams that participated in the meet included Iowa's Central College, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Platteville and Lawrence University.  The Titans beat out second place team Central College by 117.5 points.

In the women's 800-meter run, the Titans took the top three spots. Senior Jordan Clark-Mand led the way with a time of 2:23.26. Following close behind for second was freshman McKenzie Kelly, and not far behind her was junior Heather Basset taking third place.

Other first-place Titans included junior Cassie Peterson winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:45.08, junior Brittany Haas in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:50.06, and freshman Kayleigh Nichols on the long jump with a jump of 17-6 1/4.

"I am really proud of all of my teammates," Davis said. "They worked really hard in practice and clearly it paid off. There were so many personal records, I couldn't be more satisfied with how the week went."

The Titans are now headed to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship meet this week at River Falls.

"Our goals are set high for this meet," Davis said. "For some teammates this is their last meet of the season."
