The UW-Oshkosh women’s swimming and diving team prevailed over Lawrence University, 136-83, Jan. 27 in Appleton.

Seniors Angie Picotte and Molly Zahour led the Titans.

Picotte won the 100-yard breaststroke and came in second in the 500-yard freestyle.
“Angie Picotte swam well this meet,” said head coach Jon Wilson.

Picotte said she normally swims sprints such as the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle.
“It was definitely a mix up, kind of random but fun,” Picotte said.

Zahour won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11 minutes, 48 seconds.

“I don’t swim the 1000 much anymore, so it was a nice change of pace,” Zahour said.  “I finished first with a time of 11:48, a lifetime best for me, which was very exciting.”
“It was a fun meet, we didn’t swim our normal events and it was fun to see people in different events,” Wilson said.

Zahour said it was a nice change of pace to have the team swim atypical events.

“Lawrence wasn’t going to be a super competitive meet so we swam people in different events,” Wilson said.  “This is the last meet before conference so that makes this meet a bigger deal.”

This was the last meet before the Titans compete at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship  Feb. 11-13th in Minneapolis, Minn.

Oshkosh will be taking 17 swimmers and two divers to the WIAC championship.

Junior Kim Price says everyone is anxious after all the hard work they put in this season.
“We are hoping to get the times and results that we want,” Price said.  “We are just resting now and getting prepared for the meet.”

Picotte also thinks the team is ready for conference, especially after having time to rest.
“The team is very excited and everyone is swimming well,” Picotte said.

“Now’s the time it all comes together,” Wilson said. “It’ll be fun to watch everyone who has worked hard all year to swim their best.”
