Senior Phil Devine broke the Albee Hall and Pool record on the one-meter and three-meter dives as the UW Oshkosh men's dive team wrapped up its season hosting a diving-only invitational with UW-La Crosse on Saturday. No team scores were kept for the meet.

Devine began the invite by winning the one-meter dive with a score of 564.05, just under 100 points better than La Crosse's Justin Bublitz who finished second with 467.65.

He followed his performance in the one-meter dive with another first-place finish in the three-meter dive earning a final score of 579.35.

Devine said he was happy to have a chance to end his meet career with the Titans on such a positive note.

"I feel great about my career here at UW Oshkosh," Devine said. "This is a good way to end it because I got the 11-dive and six-dive records here at Albee, so it's a great way to go into conference and nationals."

Fellow senior Tim Kuckuk finished third in both events with a one-meter dive score of 417 and a three-meter dive total of 443.95.

With the exception of Kuckuk's one-meter dive score, both divers surpassed the scores needed to qualify for the NCAA Division III championships in their events.

Assistant coach Amy Krysiak, who works with the divers, said she understands the importance of getting one last meet in before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships this upcoming weekend.

"This invite was a good opportunity for them to perform dives that they just learned," she said. "It also gave them more meet experience just before heading into the larger competition this weekend."

Devine holds high expectations for himself heading into the conference championship meet.

"I have made way more progress than I could have hoped for," he said. "My consistency in both events this year has been phenomenal so I'm expecting my best performance yet this week."

Devine can make Oshkosh diving history if he can win both individual diving events this weekend, which would complete the four-peat in both events for him.

Krysiak said she feels comfortable with where her team stands as they head into the WIAC championships this weekend.

"The divers are all hitting a point in the season where everything is starting to click," she said. "The WIAC has a number of strong divers and we plan to make it a good competition, we're ready and excited for this weekend."

The Titans will begin their three-day competition at the WIAC championships on Thursday in Brown Deer beginning at 10 a.m. as they hope for their first team title in school history.
