UW-Oshkosh's bid for their first national championship appearance in 15 years fell one match short Friday night at the hands of Juniata College (Pa.) as the Titans were defeated by the Eagles 25-23, 25-18, 26-24 at the National Collegiate Asthletic Association Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament in University Heights, Ohio.

Juniata, ranked as the #1 team in the nation according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, also knocked Oshkosh (ranked #2) out of
the quarterfinal round in last season's tournament in straight sets.

The Titans had leads in both the first and third sets, but couldn't hold on as the Eagles frustrated Oshkosh all night with plenty of digs on potential Titan kills.

Oshkosh ended their season with a 38-3 record. This was their best finish at nationals since at being ousted in the semifinals in 1996.

Juniata will play Washington University (Mo.) for the national championship on Saturday night.
