(12:40 a.m.) -- Officers observed two men carrying cups of beer on the 700 block of Cherry Street. When officers tried to stop them, one man fled, and was later identified when an officer found the backpack he had dropped. The second man, 18-year-old Dillon Maertz, admitted to drinking beer at a house party and had a blood alcohol level of .12 percent, according to the police report. Officers cited Maertz, a FVTC student, for underage possession of alcohol. The investigation on the man who fled continues, according to the report.
(2:36 a.m.) -- Officers noticed two men carrying another man who was unable to walk on his own across High Avenue into Lot 18. After noticing a lot of “suspicious behavior,” officers stopped the men to check the welfare of the man being carried. The man being carried, 18-year-old student Curtis Bluel, told officers he was intoxicated and his friends were taking him home, according to the report. Officers noticed a pile of vomit near Bluel and asked if he needed medical attention. He declined, telling officers “No, I’m fine now,” the report said. Bluel had a blood alcohol level of .139 percent, and officers cited him for underage drinking (1st offense). Officers then spoke to the men carrying Bluel. One of the men, 18-year-old student David Krause, lied to officers about the spelling of his name, his middle initial and his date of birth, the report said. Krause told officers he didn’t want to get in trouble, according to the report. Officers asked Krause how much he had to drink, and he told them he drank “maybe 10 beers,” and had a blood alcohol level of .157 percent the report said. Officers cited him for underage drinking (1st offense), and warned him for obstructing officers. The third man, an 18-year-old student not named in the report, was cooperative with officers and warned for underage drinking, the report said.

(12:48 a.m.) -- Officers responded to a call at North Scott Hall to assist with a noise complaint. They arrived and made contact with a resident who was being loud and made “very inappropriate comments to hall staff,” according to the report. The resident, 19-year-old Adam Rotzenberg, told officers he hadn’t been drinking, but submitted to a breathalyzer, the report said. Rotzenberg had a blood alcohol level of .145 percent, and officers cited him for underage drinking (1st offense). Officers then escorted Rotzenberg out of Scott Hall for the evening, and told him that he couldn’t return until he was sober, or he would face a disorderly conduct charge, according to the report.

(12:30 a.m.) -- Officers observed a woman walking on the sidewalk in front of South Scott Hall carrying an open can of beer that she tried to hide down the front of her shirt after seeing officers. When officers stopped her, she told them she was 20 years old, but she had no id, according to the police report. The woman, 20-year-old non-student Amber Michaels, initially gave officers a fake name, birth date, address and phone number. After officers told Michaels she would be arrested if she didn’t tell the truth, she gave them the correct information, the report said. Michaels submitted to a breathalyzer and had a blood alcohol content of .178 percent. Officers cited her for underage possession of alcohol.

(2:00 a.m.) -- Officers stopped two men leaving Kelly’s Bar and returning to Scott Hall. The men, who appeared underage, were staggering into oncoming traffic and trying to avoid police contact, according to the report. The first man, 19-year-old student Matthew Chrnelich, admitted he had a fake ID and had been drinking beer at Kelly’s, the report said. Officers confiscated a Wisconsin drivers license and a UW-Madison student ID, both not issued to him, that he had been using as fake IDs. Officers gave him a breathalyzer, and he had a blood alcohol level of .113 percent. Officers cited him for underage drinking (1st offense), and ID card violation. The second man identified himself with a fake Georgia drivers license purporting he was 21, and told officers he was a non-student visitor, the report said. Officers discovered he was lying and identified him as 19-year-old student James Nazarovech. Nazarovech told officers he used the Georgia license to drink beer at the bar. He told officers a friend made the fake id for him a few months ago in Milwaukee, the report said. Nazarovech had slurred speech and his breath smelled of alcohol, the report said. Officers gave him a breathalyzer, and he had a blood alcohol level of .169 percent. Officers cited Nazarovech for underage drinking (1st offense) and ID card violation.
