Letter to the editor: Tea Party Misquote

I hope everyone saw the recent TEA Party Rally in Washington.  Sadly, there was the Republican Leader in the House of Representatives, John Boehner of Ohio, claiming that he was holding a copy of the Constitution and was going to quote from it.  He then said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”  Those words are from the Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776.  The Constitution came in years later while Jefferson was in France.

The TEA Party rally in Washington was an all-white affair in a black city.  Of course, this hatred of Obama has nothing to do with race.  Of course not.  If there were any Hispanics or Asians present, I did not see them.

What kind of people were at the Tea Party?  Read some of their signs and you will know who they are.
