Anywhere but the wayside
We are at the end of the indoor season, and I can’t believe how fast it has come and gone. This is the last week for people to improve performances to make the national list. Most of the people competing this weekend are those that are on the bubble for nationals, as well as those just looking to improve times or distances. However there are a few athletes that are just looking to set personal records for the indoor season.
I am still extremely bummed about the result of conference, and I am struggling to get past it. The team took a hard blow losing the meet the way we did. We had a lot of great performances and had a lot of people step it up. Other people may not have performed as well as they would have liked, but that is part of the game. You win some, and you lose some. I hope that everyone will be able to use this as a motivator for both nationals and the outdoor season. We are an incredibly deep and talented team.
I am very satisfied with my personal performances at conference this past weekend. I was able to automatically qualify for both the pentathlon and 400-meter dash. It was nice to be able to put together some good events on a big stage. I am also excited that I was able to break the oldest school record, that being the 400.
Conference set me up with a lot of confidence going into the National Championships. However, I still have a 4x400 relay that is counting on me to help them up our position on the national list. We are currently sitting in fourth place I think, but this weekend a lot of schools are going to pop off some good times. If we don’t improve, we may find ourselves sitting by the wayside.
