UWO alumna dies at age 22

UW-Oshkosh alumna Charlotte Nooe died unexpectedly in her sleep at age the age of 22 on January 11. Nooe was known around the Oshkosh community for being the vocals and guitarist for Charley and the Cynics. Her along with her band members, Jason Verstegen, Jon Powell, and Josh Rankin, had played at local places like the Reptile Palace and Titan Underground. Full story

The Oshkosh Police Department confirmed at a press conference at 10:30 a.m. today that the body found in the Fox River yesterday at 3 p.m. is that of Ripon resident, Michael Philbin.             Philbin was the 21-year-old son of Green Bay Packer's offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. Full story

Father Carr’s Place offers food, warmth for holidays

The executive director of Father Carr's Place 2B said what started as a hangout for youths has become a haven for the homeless and families in need. Executive Director Joseph Geniesse said the Place 2B was started by the Rev. Martin P. Carr, a Catholic priest, almost 40 years ago and has grown to include a homeless shelter, a free pantry, and a free dental and health clinic. Full story
